The Department of Social Welfare together with the Estrella del Alba Association held yesterday afternoon the delivery ceremony of the fourth edition of the Literary Contest "Girl Girl, with the name of Woman" that fell on the work ?Angelita la del 15´ de Veronica Sanchez. The Councilor for Social Policies and Equality, Elena Aguilar (Cs), congratulated the author of the work who received a prize of 400 euros for the best biography. A second prize in memoriam by Professor Emilio Ortega Arjonilla for the amount of 200 euros was also awarded to Virginia Mas's `Memoria sobre canvas´, which is provided by the Association. The winner of the award, the Cadiz writer Verónica Sánchez, has recounted the life of a relative, Angelita, a woman ahead of her time in the 1940s, "free, brave, fighter and very consistent with her values," she explains. ?It has been an honor to relate the life of a charismatic woman who had to separate, mother of two children, emigrating to Barcelona, ??and who returned to her neighborhood of La Viña to dedicate herself to the mentally ill for many years, among other activities.
The president of the Estrella del Alba Cultural Association of La Cala del Moral, Belén Caballero, has expressed her gratitude to the Social Welfare area for its collaboration in this new edition, highlighting the literary quality and the participation of works in the contest that has as main objective to recover the life and history of women who cannot be forgotten ».
