The coronavirus pandemic has forced to suspend hundreds of celebrations throughout the province in these last two months and will continue to do so in the coming months. However, there have been several municipalities that have pulled ingenuity and have encouraged their neighbors to celebrate the events in a virtual way, through social networks. This is what Nerja is going to do this Saturday, when the ninth edition of its White Night will take place, the most atypical so far due to the unprecedented health situation.
In this sense, the Councilor for Education and Culture, Gema Laguna (PP), has announced that, logically, the activity is not going to be able to take place as scheduled. However, this time it will be done electronically, due to the restrictions established by the state of alarm decreed before the coronavirus health crisis.
As it is not possible to celebrate in person on the streets and squares, people and entities related to the world of culture of the municipality have been asked to prepare videos, which will be broadcast through the social networks of the City Council of Nerja, Facebook and YouTube . Artists, associations, art companies, schools and other entities have participated in the development of the videos.
The theme of this year's artistic proposals is the 300th anniversary of the Hermitage of Our Lady of Sorrows, which is commemorated this year, as approved by the Municipal Council of Culture, at a meeting held on February 20. The Nerja Culture Night in White emerged in 2012 to give visibility to the cultural activity generated in the easternmost coastal municipality of the province. Tomorrow, Saturday, therefore, the ninth edition will take place.
