The councilor for Sports, Daniel Rivas, reports that next Saturday, July 4, starting at 8 pm, the ?Challenge Nerja 2020? test will be held at the Enrique López Cuenca Stadium in Nerja, with the participation of well-known elite national athletes, such as Fernando Carro, Kevin López, Mariano García, Laura Bueno, Sergio Jiménez, Gonzalo García, Daniel Arce, Abdessamad Oukhelfen, Ignacio Fontes, Irene Sánchez or the Nerja Ouassim Oumaiz, among many others.
In the male category, the 1,500 and 5,000 meter tests will be run, while in the female category it will be the 400 and 1,500 meter tests, in addition to the long jump. "The test is official, so if any record is achieved it will be approved, and will have an impact throughout Europe," says the president of the Nerja Athletics Club, Francisco Ortega, Ayo.
The president of the Andalusian Federation and vice president of the Spanish Athletics, Enrique López Cuenca, points out that this test is held "thanks to the desire, the impetus and the energy that Francisco Urbano, Pulguilla, has put in for Nerja to host this test" . He points out that both athletes and the public must comply with all the established health safety regulations.
The councilor thanked the sponsors, Restaurante Pulguilla and Merendero Ayo, as well as all the small businesses that have collaborated, for their involvement in making a test of this category, the first official to be held after the end of the state of alarm decreed by the coronavirus, can be performed in Nerja. The test will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Andalusian Athletics Federation.
