Nerja has been present at the Matka 2020 Tourism Fair, held in Helsinki from Thursday, January 16 until last Sunday. Thus, the municipality has had a space within the offer presented at the stand of the Costa del Sol, with a large photograph of the arches of the Balcony of Europe and the pass of a collection of images of the town on a large screen.
The Department of Tourism has published a special brochure on the occasion of this event in Finnish language, following the new strategy that has marked the new municipal government to direct concrete actions to each market in their own language. The Nerja Brand has also been reinforced with the presence of local entrepreneurs, such as Rafael Luque, of the Hotel Villa Flamenca.
The Councilor for Tourism, Gema García, has positively valued this participation, "since the Nerja brand has been valued, already attractive to the Nordic market, not only as a holiday tourist destination, but even as a second residence." With consolidated routes with low-cost airlines, Nordic travelers to the Costa del Sol have increased more than 73% in the last five years. The Nordic Travel Fair Matka is the largest tourist event in northern Europe and the perfect showcase for the Nordic market, the Baltic region and Russia.
