The project to build a geriatric and a hotel in the Hill of Bentomiz, in Arenas, with 240 apartments and as many rooms, promoted by a group of Belgian origin, with the support of Nordic investors, and that would suppose an outlay of more than 60 million of euros, already has a free way to be able to run, after more than a decade of paperwork and the blockade of the previous socialist leaders in the Junta de Andalucía.
As confirmed by SUR, the Ministry of Development, Infrastructure and Planning, directed by the Grenadian Marifrán Carazo, reported a few days ago to the Contentious-Administrative Court No. 6 of the capital of Malaga that withdrew the appeal filed in 2017 by the previous socialist leaders in the regional Administration.
In this way, the residential initiative already has a free path and the City Council will be able to continue with the procedures of a project that go back more than a decade ago. The Belgian investors own several plots of land that total half a million square meters. The new mayor of Arenas, Manuel Ríos (PP), showed yesterday "very satisfied and excited" that "finally" can unlock this "important" project for this small town in the interior of the Axarquía, located just ten kilometers away from Vélez-Málaga.

The promoters of the residential and hotel project foresee that once executed, the geriatric and hotel complex will create about 90 direct jobs, a figure equivalent to the unemployment that Arenas currently has, and an undetermined number of indirect jobs due to the influence of the activity What this project generates will create in its environment.
Integration in the environment

The geriatric project and the hotel in Arenas have been elaborated by the architect Arturo Ruiz. The objective is to facilitate the care of people of different ages in an environment of great environmental and landscape quality, taking advantage of natural light, the rural environment and the breadth of the farm to offer the resident or tourist a unique accommodation in the area. The project will take advantage of the orography of the land using the preexisting roads. The buildings, with ground floor plus one, will be "totally" integrated into the environment using indigenous materials, which will be distributed throughout the landscaped areas.
