A 49-year-old man of Argentine nationality has been detained by the National Police in Vélez-Málaga for allegedly defrauding 1,891 euros of an 87-year-old woman he cared for and whose home he attended while he was hospitalized.
The investigation began as a result of the complaint by the social worker in charge of the woman, who had been the victim of a fraud with her bank card, since she was admitted to a residence and had no family ties in Spain, except for a neighbor who He had offered to take care of her while she was admitted to the hospital as a result of a fall.
As reported by the Police in a statement, the agents verified that all the movements made in the victim's bank card had been made during his stay in the hospital and that the only person who had access to the home was his caretaker, who had a set of house keys.
The first police investigations pointed out that the person responsible for the withdrawals of money made with the woman's card had to be from his environment. After several inquiries, the agents found out that the author of the cash withdrawals as well as an online purchase had been their caretaker, who was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of fraud, facts known to the Investigating Court number 4 of Vélez-Málaga.
