The new covered outdoor sports courts of the Municipal Pavilion 'Rubén Ruzafa' of Torre de Benagalbón will open their doors to users from this month, after finishing the construction works that have involved an investment of 646,633.04 euros. The councilor has shown his satisfaction with the result of the new facilities, «which represent a commitment of this government team to expand the sports area of ??the municipality. With this action we optimize the outer space of the pavilion to reach a greater number of users ». In addition, Salado has said that «we will continue with our policy of modernization of sports equipment in the municipality». The new sports facilities will have two accesses: a south entrance to the venue, and a main entrance at the height of the pavilion, as well as another exit with access to the garden area.
The works have consisted of the demolition of the old facilities, with two paddle and one tennis courts; concrete slab finished with resin for the planned sports practices. Much of the existing lighting has been reused, implementing it with lines of successive spotlights on each side of the roof. The rectangular shaped surface offers a cover of 1,700 square meters of thick sheet metal optimized to increase inertia. A mesh for balls has also been installed between the two tracks instrumented by pulley and another single torsion mesh has been placed in the south to prevent the exit of balls.
The new enclosure offers a 20x40 north-south orientation multipurpose track for handball and futsal sports, and another smaller 20x12 track in the north-east-west orientation for minibasquet. Jiménez has described as ?suitable the result of the project, where the aesthetic aspect for the location in which it is located has been improved?. The winning company has been Rofez Construcciones S.L., which also and as an improvement of the contract, has installed a prefabricated harrow with PVC seats at three levels with capacity for about one hundred people and located in the east. The direction of the work has been borne by the City of Rincón de la Victoria.
