New slowdown in the execution of the coastal path in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga. The Provincial Government has unfavorably reported the projects drawn up by the City Council corresponding to three sections between the Arroyo de Chilches and Las Aldefas -1,747 meters in length- for a total amount of 1,168,775 euros. The reasons are the same in all three cases. Differences in the occupation surface of the Terreres Maritime Public Domain, the Traffic Easement zone and the Protection zone with respect to those indicated in the provisional authorization for the Environment of the Board, as well as for lacking a geotechnical study, since the three sections includes pedestrian bridge
The government team of the Municipality of Vélez-Málaga, formed by PSOE and GIPMTM, assured last February that the execution of the Coastal Path between Chilches and Benajarafe was "on the roof of the Provincial Deputation", after the Consistory referred the provincial agency the corresponding projects. The mayor of Infrastructures, Juan García, then asked the County Council to approve the projects with the greatest urgency in order to be able to undertake them as soon as possible, given the expectations created in the residents and residents of the area.
García has assured that the City Council is still not aware of the reports of the Provincial Council.
The residents of the western nuclei of the Vélez-Málaga coast have carried out numerous protest actions to demand improvements in the area, such as the coastal path, in addition to a northern pavement on the old N-340 and more public services. For the Asociación Plataforma Ciudadana por Benajarafe y Chilches (ByCH), which has staged up to five demonstrations, these can only mean that in the "City Hall they are a disaster" or that "they are two administrations unable to reach an agreement. In other municipalities, the coastal path has been carried out without problems, but here we have been years behind, "said the group's spokesman, Sergio Yules, who has once
Although the County Council drafted more than five years ago the projects of the three affected sections without occupying the Public Domain in order to streamline the works as much as possible, the City Council chose to redraft them to occupy part of the Terrestrial Maritime Public Domain, which in the end it is considerably complicating the procedure.
The affected projects are section II, which runs from the Chilches stream to the Cañada del Antiguo Camino de Chilches to Vélez, 1,130 meters long and with a budget of 470,604 euros. This section includes two bridges 10 meters long and 1.5 meters wide. Another of the sections is the third, which ranges from the Cañada de Antiguo Camino de Chilches to Vélez to the Arroyo Pataseca, budgeted at 484,858 euros, its length being 790 meters. It includes four bridges, three of 10 meters and one of 14 in length, being its width between 1.5 and 3 meters. The fourth section, whose project must also be remedied part of the Pataseca stream and ends in Las Adelfas. It has a length of 490 meters
Of all the sections of the path planned in the municipality, only one has been executed, the one between the Santillán stream and the Chilches stream, which represented 334,000 euros. On the eastern coast of the municipality, another is also pending on the border with Torrox.
