The governing board of the Diputación de Málaga has approved a subsidy to the Nerja City Council for an amount of 281,368.44 euros for the execution of a new action of the Coastal Path in Nerja. Specifically, it is about the improvement and enhancement of the Carabineros promenade, which will allow the Calahonda beach to be recovered.
The project includes the redevelopment of the part closest to the Balcony of Europe and includes the stabilization of the existing rock slope and the conditioning with excavation, filling, compaction and paving of the old Carabineros promenade in its initial phase. In addition, there will be a clearing in the area where there was a beach bar and now it will be enabled as a platform for hammocks, as reported by the Diputación through a statement.
In the same way, in the initial part an area of ??steps is projected to connect the current descent to Calahonda beach with the Carabineros promenade, and another staircase will be made to access from the walk to the platform for the hammocks and from this to the beach. At the same time, they have specified, the landscaping of the slope area will be carried out, next to the promenade, and next to the rocky wall of the cliff, and wooden railings and benches will be installed, as well as public lighting. During 2019, the Diputación de Málaga financed with another 263,831 euros two other actions of the Coastal Path.
