The works of execution of the future Torre del Mar theater, planned in Cerro del Águila, next to the current covered swimming pool and whose file has already been launched, will be carried out in four different lots and not in a unitary manner. At least, this has been agreed by the Local Government Board of the City Council. With a total budget of 8,088,000 euros, the works will be carried out by various companies.
The first lot, which includes a foundation and structure, is budgeted at 2,228,032 euros. Lot two refers to the rest of the civil works and is valued at 4,010,585 euros. The third batch will include the equipment for the bathrooms, the furniture for the dressing rooms and administration, as well as the seats in the room, with a budget of 193,461 euros. The purpose of lot four is to provide the necessary equipment to the stage for its operation as a theater, the tender amount being 1,656,592 euros. The total execution period must be 24 months.
The project will be built on a plot of 6,244.28 square meters. The new stage space will have a capacity of more than 500 seats. It will be a multipurpose stage since it can host theater, classical music (symphonic or chamber), concerts, conferences, conventions and exhibitions. It will have a collective dressing room and two main ones.
The property has been designed so that it also has a large white auditorium. The main hall will have an area of ??365 square meters and a little over 10 meters high, so it can also function as an exhibition hall. The theater will have a total built area of ??4,000 square meters.
For the PP, as the main opposition group in the City Council, this system of bidding by lots does not seem the most appropriate in a work of such importance.
For the spokesman of the political formation, Francisco Delgado, it does not seem very reasonable that in moments of crisis like the current ones, the City Council allocates more than eight million euros to such a project, given the social and economic problems that the health crisis coronavirus is generating in the municipality.
