The Malaga-Axarquía Health Area reorganizes the healthcare activity to deal with the coronavirus

The Malaga-Axarquía Health Area is reorganizing the healthcare activity to face the possible increase in cases and admissions due to Covid-19, as well as respiratory pathology. In this sense, professionals are working day by day in the different health care circuits to guarantee the safety of patients and professionals, following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health. In fact, currently, teleconsultation is being progressively introduced in the agendas of the Health Centers and Primary Care Clinics, as well as in the External Consultations of the Hospital de la Axarquía, to avoid displacement by citizens and minimize the risk of contagion, both from patients and professional

The surgical agenda is also being reorganized, so that if necessary, only oncological and urgent surgical interventions would be maintained. In all cases, if there is a forced cancellation of said activity, the aforementioned patients will be contacted to indicate such suspension.

This decision is in addition to the organized planning that is being carried out by the different services since the first case was detected in the hospital and which aims to have as many resources as possible in the face of a hypothetical increase in patients admitted for this pathology. .

Since last week, the different hospitalization plants have been reorganized for Covid-19 admission cases, increasing the number of isolation rooms, minimizing traffic, and a circuit for reception has also been differentiated in the Emergency Department. , classification and stay, exclusively for patients with respiratory pathology, together with an area for suspected Covid-19, so that they are not in contact with the rest of the patients who come to the emergency department for other pathologies.

At the human resources level, the emergency staff has been reinforced with health and non-health personnel, so that the hiring of 3 family doctors, 10 nurses, 5 nursing assistants and 10 caretakers has been carried out, and increased the presence of Intensive Care Physicians. In the same way, the Health Surveillance, Prevention and Promotion Service is being strengthened in order to face the increased demand for control and monitoring of this pandemic.

The management of the Malaga-Axarquía Health Area apologizes to patients affected by possible reprogramming, and appeals to the understanding of citizens before the declaration of the state of alarm that affects the entire country and, in a very specific way, the health field .

Likewise, the Area requests to be respectful of compliance with the order to reduce visits to all its health centers, remembering that the Ministry of Health and Families has instructed the population to avoid going to hospitals and doctor's offices and health centers. if it is not necessary and if the patient has an admitted relative or the patient is not independent, the accompaniment is reduced to one person.
