The tripartite government team in the City of Cómpeta (PSOE, Por Mi Pueblo y Ciudadanos) approved in their last plenary session a raise in the salary of the mayor, the socialist José Moyano, of 10,000 euros gross per year, up to the maximum legal allowed, of 42,452.24 euros, distributed in fourteen payments. The PP in the opposition voted against this increase, which also includes a 2% increase for the two deputy mayor, which will correspond 650 euros more annually in the next year.
The measure caused a verbal encounter between the mayor and his predecessor, Obdulio Pérez, to the point that Moyano expelled the PP spokesman from the plenary hall. The mayor justified the increase "because when we arrived I lowered it in that amount, 10,000 euros, and what I will charge from January 1 is exactly the same as Obdulio Pérez charged," he added. The PP spokesman criticized that Moyano "has presumed to have lowered his salary since he came to office in June."
