The rehabilitation and signaling works on the cliffs of El Cantal are at 50% execution. The works, which focus on the section between Rincón de la Victoria and La Cala del Moral, have a budget of 325,701.92 euros, which are fully funded by the Diputación within the framework of the Coastal Path.
The Councilor for Infrastructure, Sergio Díaz (PP), highlighted "the important improvements that are being made for the recovery of this tourist enclave of public interest with the renovation of pavements, railings, lighting and accessibility." In addition, the mayor said that "the pace of the works is adapting to the use of public space, all with the intention of interfering as little as possible in the use and enjoyment of this area."
The mayor, Francisco Salado (PP), stressed "the importance of the project to make one of the most tourist areas of Rincon de la Victoria more attractive and accessible, highlighting this tourist and environmental space." "We are going to strengthen this location with the aim that visitors and tourists can enjoy this unique space," he added, while stressing that "through this enclave passes the Malaga coastal path that promotes and drives the Diputación to provide greater attractiveness to the municipalities of the Costa del Sol, including Rincon de la Victoria ».
The work is to ensure safety and traffic through the placement of continuous pavements, protection elements against unevenness, the installation of suitable and efficient lighting in terms of lighting and environment, the repair of vandal damage, among other actions in more than half a kilometer of travel.
Likewise, the renovation of the public lighting installation is being carried out through the supply and placement of LED luminaires, as well as re-stapling, disassembly and renovation of deteriorated reflective beacons, bike lane painting, electricity and pavements. In the pedestrian areas between tunnels, the dismantling and installation of new precast concrete benches, the removal and renovation of new wooden railings, the cutting and demolition of the pavement and the rehabilitation of the surface layer of the printed pavement are proceeding.
The period of execution of the works is three months, by the company Probisa, Vías y Obras S.L.U. The project has been written by the technical team of the City Council. The coastal strip presents in the area between Rincón de la Victoria and La Cala del Moral a very steep, cliff-like topography, in which the old suburban railways layout and a series of paths that line the coastal line, both of pedestrian nature.
