The City Council of Vélez-Málaga announced yesterday the extension of the period of collection in voluntary period of the Property Tax (IBI), which is extended until next October 22 after being approved in a Local Government Board, the body of maximum political representation for citizens in the municipalities of large population.
The mayor, Antonio Moreno (PSOE), and the councilor of the Treasury, David Vilches (GIPMTM), recalled that the Consistory allocates 4.1 million to give aid to citizens, which facilitate many residents paying IBI. "Aid that benefits some 25,000 families as a firm commitment of the government team to help people and facilitate the payment of municipal receipts," they said.
In addition the Consistory has opened a new call, also until October 22, so that citizens who have not obtained the aid, for any irregular situation, tax debt with the administration or for not having properly justified the requirements for the application, They can correct these breaches and recover the aid. It will be around 1,000 receipts that can be recovered.
In these cases, the aid will be granted ex officio, after the voluntary payment period of the IBI has elapsed, and will be paid by bank transfer. Those interested should communicate their account number to the Municipal Treasury through the specific models for this purpose. Vilches also explained that, of the 25,000 grants granted, approximately 15,000 are accumulated grants, that is, "of amounts close to 50% of the receipt."
The councilor and the mayor of the GIPMTM highlighted "the important effort made by the government team to contemplate this type of aid in the budgets despite the restrictions that are imposed, on many occasions, from other administrations."
