Torrox has been one of the ten municipalities of Malaga selected in the second edition of the 'Bootcamps' of the Ministry of Economy, Knowledge, Business and University to reduce the digital divide. The objective of this program is to accompany the Andalusian local entities under 20,000 inhabitants in the design and planning of the smart training process of their municipalities. «This transformation will make Torrox a more attractive place to live, work and innovate, attracting investment and talent. It will also entail savings and sustainability with a transversal management of public resources, providing transparency and a good image of the management and use of resources. For his part, Paola Moreno, Councilor for Finance and Personnel at the Torroxeño Consistory, has specified that these are face-to-face and virtual training processes, lasting three months, that provide participants with tools and mechanisms to address the intelligent transformation of its local entities based on the 'Local Strategy of Smart City in Andalusia' as a frame of reference for the development of particular strategies.

With this initiative of the Ministry of Economy, co-financed by the European Regional Development Funds, the management model of the municipalities will be allowed to evolve and, with this, improve the quality of life of its inhabitants, while at the same time promoting new economic opportunities. and employment. In this training program, the participating entities, through a guided methodology, draw a roadmap to follow according to the vision or model of smart city that is intended to be developed. To do this, they develop a customized strategic plan, based on a diagnosis that assesses the level of intelligent development.
