Little by little the Malaga municipalities are adapting to the 'new normal'. In Vélez-Málaga, the Local Government Board of the City Council has approved the lifting of the suspension of the blue zone service in the municipality, which was interrupted in March when the state of alarm was declared. In this way, the blue zone will resume this Wednesday, July 1, through the extension of the initial duration of the management contract that regulates this public parking service with some 350 spaces, through the charity Amivel.
"A parking rotation service that undoubtedly favors the activity of local commerce and which will soon be significantly expanded, to more than 1,300 spaces, spread across different strategic areas of the municipal area," stressed the mayor of the capital of Axarquía. , the socialist Antonio Moreno Ferrer in allusion to the file in which the Consistory is working to put this service back to tender, implemented in 2015 for an initial period of five years.
The association of the Disabled of Vélez (Amivel), concessionaire of the management of the blue zone in the municipality until April 2020, has repeatedly joined the demands of local businessmen asking for the blue zone to be expanded, especially taking into account Keep in mind that the City Council has breached the conditions of the concession from the first moment, since the 810 places planned have not been put into the blue zone. After five years at the helm of the blue zone, Amivel manages only 350 places, less than 50% of those foreseen in the first tender.
On the other hand, the Local Government Board has granted 26 building licenses, including the construction of 25 homes, and 6 opening licenses. Likewise, different minor contracts have been approved as an improvement in the audiovisual room of the Easter Museum of Vélez-Málaga, «to enhance cultural tourism during all the months of the year, given our rich local heritage and as an ideal complement to our sun and beach », affirmed Moreno Ferrer.
In terms of urban development, the Local Government Board also approved a punctual modification of elements of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) in a plot of Chilches, to modify the buildable and adapt it to a reality more in line with the environment. Moreno Ferrer again appealed to citizen responsibility since "the virus has not yet disappeared, we are not free of new infections or possible outbreaks, so we must be very aware and act with great caution, respecting hygienic-sanitary measures , social distancing and all the guidelines established to guarantee citizen health «.
