The staff of the local Police of Vélez-Málaga will have this Holy Week with 75 new bulletproof vests and 15 new covers for existing ones in order to guarantee the safety of the agents. This was announced by the mayor of the area, José María Domínguez (PSOE), after signing the City Council a contract amounting to about 50,000 euros in order to provide the staff with this equipment. Dominguez said that there will be vests adapted to female and male agents, and that these will be of the highest quality, blue and breathable.
With this action, all agents of the police staff (91) will have this equipment. "It was a priority of this delegation and an electoral commitment of the socialist municipal group," said Dominguez, who also acknowledged that this was one of the demands of the police unions and the troops themselves.
The Local Police Councilor recalled that last November the new City Council delivered to the staff of new uniforms and work teams to help ensure the proper performance of their functions effectively and in maximum safety conditions, for an amount of about 36,000 euros (about 360 euros per agent). The material delivered at the end of 2019 included short and long-sleeved polo shirts, winter pants, socks, thermal shirts, boots, shackles, shackles, semi-rigid fenders, gloves, pepper spray, sweaters and polar jackets, thermal collars, caps, belts, anti-cut gloves, biker gloves, anti theft covers and walkie holders.
This work equipment added to other improvements such as the renewal of the vehicle fleet (10); the new integral management computer system to streamline services and the acquisition of new personal teletransmitters, as well as state-of-the-art patrol stations, for approximately 800,000 euros.
Dominguez said that his department is working in the line of getting a Local Police more proximity and said about the lack of agents on the staff that is intended by the government team (PSOE and GIPMTM) to take steps to summon the places whose oppositions They have not yet started, while ensuring that through 11 service commissions they can also fill the 11 places that are vacant and those that can be produced these years as a result of the decree that allows local police to advance their retirement to 60 years of age (59 if they are credited between 36 and 37 years of contribution).
