The Councilor for Municipal Services, Gema García, reports that the Nerja City Council has approved the Contingency Plan for the organization of visits to the Cemetery during the All Saints holiday, due to covid-19. The Plan includes a series of recommendations aimed at guaranteeing the safety and health of all those who come to the municipal cemetery on these dates to comply with the tradition of honoring the deceased.
An uninterrupted schedule has been established from 9 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon, until next October 28, which is extended until 8 in the afternoon on 29, 30 and 31, as well as on November 2. Day 1 will remain open until 12 at night. During all these days, the staff is reinforced to keep the premises clean and disinfected, as well as stairs and other tools that are used by different people.
The cemetery is divided into two parts, entering the area through the main door to the hermitage, and through the doors of Velázquez (Campillo de Vidrio) and Virgen del Pilar (Police Headquarters) streets for visits to the rear. Whoever wishes, can reserve a time for their visit, calling in the morning (Monday to Friday), at 6478912, which will avoid waiting in the event of an agglomeration of visitors. Traffic through the enclosure has been regulated and zones have been set up to prevent the passage from being interfered with. The councilor advises that they bring their own bottle of water to avoid crowds at the cemetery fountains.
In addition to the Councilor responsible for the Cemetery and the municipal workers of the service, the Councilor for Security, the coordinator of the Unit for the Prevention of Occupational Risks of the City Council, the coordinator of the Municipal Services and the responsible for Local Police and Civil Protection. The councilor also informs that the usual repairs and maintenance work, which are usually carried out before the aforementioned festival, have been advanced so that there is more time to clean the niches.
